Judson Palmer Home

Assisted Living for women.....As it should be!

A residential Care Facility for Mature Women, Regardless of Financial Means

Quality of Life

The Judson Palmer Home is not a nursing home. It is a residence home for women of Hancock County 65 years and better. And, it is much more than that.

When a woman becomes a member of the Judson Palmer family, she will not only be cared for now but the rest of her life. Her quality of life will be ensured as we will always take care of her medical expenses, prescription drugs, nursing home care, funeral expenses, as well as her personal care items.

The Judson Palmer Home is a licensed residential care facility designed to be "home" to 15 women, regardless of their financial means. The home is funded by a private trust created by Judson and Katherine Palmer and is governed by a board of trustees. The trustees' only commitment is to provide a quality of life for each woman through a caring home-like atmosphere.

Self-Supporting

There is a staff of 22, with Nurses providing 24/7 care to the residents assisted by State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNA). Each resident has a private room that meets their individual taste, with comfortable, accommodating communal bathrooms on each of the two floors. In the downstairs living room, residents delight in listening to the new baby grand piano that staffers enjoy playing for them. The facility also includes two sun rooms. Three nutritious, delicious meals and a snack are served daily.

Visitors and residents regularly encounter our feline friends Sissy, and Jack patrolling the halls.

Residents are free to come and go as their health permits, but planned social activities both in and out of the home are provided. Personal care services, such as a beautician, are available regularly at the home.

Other Service

A beautiful rose garden with a charming gazebo sits on part of the lovely grounds, ideal for taking an afternoon stroll or quiet rest.

In short, everything possible is done to enhance the quality of life for each woman at the Judson Palmer Home.

Our History

The Judson Palmer Home is the creation of a truly unique Findlay couple, Judson and Katherine Palmer. The Judson Palmer Home, created from their estates, has been serving Findlay and Hancock County since 1950.judson-palmer

The trust was established in 1939 after Katherine's death. Just before the beginning of World War II, the first community board of directors was formed to build and operate the home.

The war delayed the start of construction on the building, but by 1950, the facility opened its doors to the first residents.

The Palmers are claimed as true visionary people since their generation had no concept of assisted living.

Judson Palmer was involved in the grocery business and a flour mill operation. He also served as president of the Farmers' Bank for a time. He died in 1916.
